I often wonder what our children will remember of various childhood experiences. It's anyone's guess. Recently our son was recalling a golf course that he and my husband played on. What he didn't recall was that his obstreperous behaviour had them kicked off that golf course, and angered my husband severely. My son only had happy memories of the view from the first hole! So who knows what effect donuts/Lent/not going there will have in the long run?!<br /><br />I completely agree with what you say about "traditions". Before we had kids, friends who were already parents remarked that if you do something once with your children, it becomes a tradition.
